I VOTE NOBODY

OUR CONSTITUTION ITSELF NEEDS TO BE CHANGED................IT SUCKS BIG TIME!!!!!

Section 49-O of the Constitution - Did you know that there is a system in our constitution, as per the 1969 act, in section "49-O" that a person can go to the polling booth, confirm his identity, get his finger marked and convey the presiding election officer that he doesn't want to vote anyone! Yes such a feature is available, but obviously these seemingly notorious leaders have never disclosed it. This is called "49-O". Why should you go and say "I VOTE NOBODY"... because, in a ward, if a candidate wins, say by 123 votes, and that particular ward has received "49-O" votes more than 123, then that ·        polling will be cancelled and ·        Will have to be re-polled. ·        Not only that, but the candidature of the contestants will be removed and they cannot contest the re-polling, since people had already expressed their decision on them.   This would bring fear into parties and hence look for genuine candidates for their parties for election. This would change the way, of our whole political system... it is seemingly surprising why the election commission has not revealed such a feature to the public.... Please spread this news to as many as you know...

Seems to be a wonderful weapon against corrupt parties in India ... show your power, expressing your desire not to vote for anybody, Is even more powerful than voting... so don't miss your chance. So either vote, or vote not to vote (vote 49-O) and pass this info on... "Please inform about this to as many as possible, so that we, the people of India , can really use this power to save our nation". Use your vote right for a better INDIA .

We give seven and a half rupees to a foreign country in a single bottle of coke..

Consider how much sales we have in our country in a single day...

Multinational companies, but to protect our own interests we request everybody to use INDIAN products only for next two years.

With the rise in petrol prices, if we do not do this,the rupee will devalue further and we will end up paying much more for the same products in the near future.  

What you can do about it ?
1. Buy only products manufactured by WHOLLY INDIAN COMPANIES.
2. ENROLL as many people as possible for this cause.

Each individual  should become a leader for this awareness.  
This is the only way to save our country from severe economic crisis.
You don't need to give-up your lifestyle. You just need to choose an alternate product.

WITH THE STORMS OF LIFE

Storms seem to be such a big part of our lives anymore. If we’re not in the midst of one, it seems like one of our close friends or a family member is. How can you stay isolated and uninvolved when that happens? You can’t. So pretty much everyday finds us confronted by some kind of "stormy" situation or another. And confronted by the tug-of-war between worry and faith that always comes to believers in the midst of those troubling situations.

Worry finds it’s root in fear, which is the opposite of faith. If not controlled, worry creates doubt and doubt leads to an inability to receive from God. All available evidence, in scripture and in worldly data, shows worry to be both ineffective and destructive.

Faith, on the other hand, is the foundation that God has provided for us. It is a source of stability and strength to overcome our troubles. It brings comfort in the midst of turmoil - a peace that goes beyond our understanding. How very simple the choice seems when presented in those terms. But life has a way of making the simplest of choices not seem so simple after all.

Major life changing events often seem insurmountable and it’s a natural reaction for us to feel some panic. In some ways it reminds me of being on a ship in a hurricane. As you can tell from the scripture reference above, James spent some time at sea and shares my view. Anyone who saw the George Clooney movie about the perfect storm has some sense of what that can be like. In our mind’s eye, dark clouds gather to block the sun, the wind howls so loud we can’t think.


The waves of doubt and fear lift skyward and come crashing down on us with thunderous blows. Again and again and again. It feels like an endless march of forces seemingly bent on destroying our hope and our faith. All is darkness and confusion around us. Our senses reel from the impact. There seems no direction we can chose to escape, no refuge in which to seek comfort and rest. But in the midst of this assault, we need to force ourselves to ask these critical questions:

Are God’s promises any less valid today than they were yesterday?

Does He love us any less?

Are we any less valuable to Him?

Has the price He paid for our salvation, for our adoption into His family as His sons and daughters, become less precious to Him today than it was when Jesus hung on the cross at Calvary and He had to turn His eyes away because it hurt so badly to see His Son’s suffering?

The Bible clearly gives us God’s answers. They are "No. No. No. And NO!!!"

Do I understand everything that is going on in our lives or the lives of so many we care about right now? No I do not. I freely admit it. But if I trust the Father, our heavenly Father, I don’t need to understand. I only need to place my hand in His and hold on with all the strength I have. He will take care of the rest.

By way of illustration, there is an incident in the Bible I’d like to share with you. I pray it encourages you as much as it did this old sailor in trying to deal with the current "storm" of troubles.

"Without warning, a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him, saying, "Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!" He replied, ‘You of little faith, why are you so afraid?’ Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm." Matthew 8:24-26 (emphasis added)

As joint heirs with Jesus, we have the same measure of faith as the one who slept peacefully during the storm and the same measure of authority as the one who rebuked it and brought the calm. Instead of bowing to the storm (worry and fear) we can take authority over it - like Jesus. We may not have all the answers, but we have the one we need. The Father will care for us and bring us safely home.

‘கடன்பட்டார் நெஞ்சம்போல கலங்கினான் இலங்கை வேந்தன்’ என்பது பல காலத்துக்கு முன்பே கம்பன் சொன்ன உதாரணம். அப்படி ஒரு கலக்கம் தமிழக அரசுக்கு ஏனோ இன்னமும் வரவே இல்லை. ‘கடன் அன்பை முறிக்கும்’ என்பதும் பழங்காலத்து மொழி.  தமிழ் நாட்டையே இந்தக் கடன், தலைகீழாகக் கவிழ்க்கக் காத்திருக்கிறது.  10 ஆயிரம் கைமாற்றாக வாங்கியவர்கள், திருப்பிச் செலுத்த முடியவில்லை என்றால் பதறிப் போவதும்… வாங்கிய வீட்டுக் கடனை ஒரு மாதம் ஒழுங்காக அடைக்க முடியாமல் போனால், வங்கிக்காரர்களைப் பார்த்துப் பதுங்க ஆரம்பிப்பதும், மத்திய தர வர்க்கத்தின் அன்றாட வழக்கம். கிராமப்புறங்களில், கூட்டுறவுக் கடனை வசூலிப்பதற்காக அதிகாரிகள் வரும்போது, வயல் காடுகளை நோக்கி ஓடிப் போய் விவசாயிகள் பதுங்கிக்கொள்வார்கள். அவர்களைப் பிடிக்க நிலங்களுக்குள் அதிகாரிகளும் ஓடுவார்கள். இதைவைத்து எழுதப்பட்ட கி.ராஜநாராயணனின் ‘கதவு’ கதை கண்ணீர் வரவைக்கும். அசலையும் வட்டியையும் செலுத்த முடியாத விவசாயியின் வீட்டில் இருந்த நிலைக் கதவை அதிகாரிகள் எடுத்துச் செல்வதை உருகி உருகி எழுதி இருப்பார்.

‘அளவறிந்து வாழாதான் வாழ்க்கை உளபோல இல்லாகித் தோன்றக் கெடும்’ என்ற வள்ளுவரின் குறளுக்குத் ‘தன் செல்வத்தின் அளவு அறிந்து வாழாதவனுடைய வாழ்க்கை பல வளமும் இருப்பதுபோல் தோன்றி, இல்லாமல் மறைந்து கெட்டுவிடும்’ என்று மு.வ. முதல் மு.க. வரைக்கும் விளக்கம் சொல்லி இருக்கிறார்கள். இவ்வளவுக்குப் பிறகும் வெளிவந்துஇருக்கும் ஒரு செய்தி, பதறவைக்கிறது!

தமிழ்நாட்டின் இன்றைய மொத்தக் கடன் ஒரு லட்சம் கோடியைத் தாண்டிவிட்டது. சரியாகச் சொன்னால், 1,01,541 கோடி! ‘நான் கடன் வாங்குறதும் இல்ல… கொடுக்கிறதும் இல்ல’ என்று சில ஜென்டில்மேன்கள் சொல்வார்கள். நீங்கள் வாங்காவிட்டால் என்ன, உங்களுக்கும் சேர்த்துதான் நாங்கள் வாங்குகிறோமே என்று அரசாங்கம் செய்தது எல்லாம்  இப்போது தான் வெளிச்சத்துக்கு வந்திருக்கிறது. ஊரெல்லாம் கடன் வாங்கிக் கொண்டு… யாரெல்லாம் கடன் தருவார்களோ, அவர்கள் அத்தனை பேரிடமும் கடன் வாங்கிக்கொண்டு, ‘தமிழ்நாட்டில் செயல்படுத்தப்பட்டு வரும் உறுதியான பொருளாதார வளர்ச்சித்  திட்டங்களின் காரணமாக, மாநிலத்தின் பொருளாதார வளர்ச்சி வலுவாக உள்ளது’ என்று நிதி அமைச்சர் அன்பழகன் எப்படிச் சொல்கிறார் என்றே தெரியவில்லை.

இன்றைய தி.மு.க. ஆட்சியின் மிக முக்கியமான சாதனையாகச் சொல்லப்படுவது, இலவசங்கள்தான். மக்களுக்குத் தேவையான அத்தியாவசியப் பொருட்களை இலவசங்களாகவோ, மானியமாகவோ வழங்கி னால், அதை மக்கள் நலத் திட்டம் என்று நினைத்து, தொடர்ச்சியாகச் செய்துவருகிறார்கள். ஒரு ரூபாய்க்கு ஒரு கிலோ அரிசி என்பது இதில் கவர்ச்சிகரமான முதல் திட்டம். மார்க்கெட் மதிப்பில்   ஏழுக்கு விற்பனையாகும் அரிசிக்கு  அரசாங்கம்  ஆறு கொடுத்து விடுகிறது. மீதி  ஒன்றுதான்  பொது மக்களின் பாக்கெட்டில் இருந்து தரப்படுகிறது. இந்த அரிசியை வாங்கியவர்கள் அனைவரும் சாப்பிடுகிறார்களா என்றால், இல்லை. அதிக விலைக்கு வெளியில் விற்று, சம்பாதிப்பவர்களும் உண்டு. அல்லது மாவு மிஷின் ஆட்கள் இதை மொத்தமாக வாங்கி, அரைத்து விற்றுச் சம்பாதிக்கவும் செய்கிறார்கள். இந்த அரிசியை வாங்குபவர்களில், அதிகபட்சம் 25 சதவிகிதம் பேர்கூட இதைப் பொங்கிச் சாப்பிடவில்லை என்பதுதான் நிதர்சனமான உண்மை.

அடுத்த கவர்ச்சித் திட்டம் வண்ணத் தொலைக்காட்சிப் பெட்டி. 80 லட்சம் குடும் பங்கள் வரை இந்த கலர் டி.வி-யை வாங்கி இருக்கிறார்கள். இதை வைத்துப் பார்த்தால், 2006-க்கு முன்னால் தமிழ்நாட்டில் முக்கால் சதவிகித வீடுகளில் டி.வி-யே இல்லையா என்ன? இருக்கும் வீடுகளுக்கே இவர்களும் கொடுத்தார்கள். ஒரே வீட்டில் இரண்டு மூன்று டி.வி-க்கள் வரை இதனால் குவிந்தன. இவையும் அதிகபட்சம்  3,000 வரை விலை போனது.

நாடு முழுவதும் உணவுப் பொருட்களின் விலை அநியாயமாக எகிறியது. விலை ஏன் திடீரென உயர்கிறது, அதைக் கட்டுப்படுத்துவது எப்படி என்றெல்லாம் ஆலோசனை செய்யாமல், நியாய விலைக் கடைகளில் மலிவு விலையில் மளிகைப் பொருட்களை அரசாங்கம் வழங்கியது. கலர் டி.வி-யைப்போலவே இலவச எரிவாயு இணைப்பும் அடுப்பும் தருவது தி.மு.க-வை வெற்றி பெறவைத்த வாக்குறுதிகளில் ஒன்று. கடந்த ஆண்டு அறிவிக்கப்பட்ட ‘கலைஞர் காப்பீட்டுத் திட்டம்’ மற்றும் ‘கலைஞர் கான்கிரீட் வீடு கட்டும் திட்டம்’ ஆகிய இரண்டும் மக்களை ஏக்கப் பார்வை பார்க்கவைத்துள்ளன. கலைஞர் காப்பீட்டுத் திட்டத்தால், பொதுமக்கள் அடைந்த பயனைவிட, தனியார் மருத்துவமனைகள் அடைந்த பயன்கள்தான் அதிகம். தேவை இல்லாமல் ஆபரேஷன்கள் செய்கிறார்கள் என்று ஒரு புறமும்… இன்று ஏற்படும் மருத்துவச் செலவுகளுக்கு அரசாங்கம் தரும் இன்ஷூரன்ஸ் பணம் சொற்பமானது என்று மறுபுறமும் கவலை ரேகைகள் படர்ந்து வருகின்றன. கான்கிரீட் வீடுகள் கட்ட அரசாங்கம் தரும்  75 ஆயிரம், இன்றைய நிலையில் நிலம் தோண்டி சுற்றுச் சுவர் எழுப்புவதற்குக்கூடப் போதுமானது அல்ல. இப்படிப்பட்ட இலவசத் திட்டங்களுக்காகத்தான் கோடிக்கணக்கான பணத்தை அரசாங்கம் கடனாக வாங்குகிறது.

”கடன் வாங்காதே என்று சாதாரணமாக எல்லோரும் சொல்வார்கள். ஆனால், இந்தக் கடனில்தான் தமிழகம் வாழ்கிறது” என்று சொல்கிறார் நிதி அமைச்சர். ”இம்மாதிரியான கடனால் தமிழகம் வாழவில்லை. தி.மு.க-தான் வாழ்ந்துகொண்டு இருக்கிறது” என்று எதிர்க் கட்சிகள் குற்றம்சாட்டுகின்றன. தி.மு.க. ஆட்சிக்கு வந்தால் அதைத் தருவோம்… இதைத் தருவோம்… என்று வாக்குறுதிகளைக் கொடுத்து ஆட்சியைப் பிடித்தார் கருணாநிதி. இலவசங்களால் நிரம்பிய அந்த அறிக்கைக் குத்தான், ‘தேர்தல் கதாநாயகன்’ என்று நிதித் துறையில் கரை கண்ட ப.சிதம்பரம் பட்டமும் கொடுத்தார். அத்தனைப் பொருட்களையும் அரசாங்கமே கொடுத்துவிடும் கம்யூனிச சமுதாயத்தை நோக்கிய பயணமாக இதைக் கருணாநிதி பார்த்தது காலத்தின் கோலம்.

”இலவசம் என்பது கேலிக்கு உரியதல்ல. ஒரு காலத்தில் இலவசம் எவ்வளவு பெருமைக்கு உரியதாக இருந்தது தெரியுமா? மேல் சாதியைச் சேர்ந்தவர்களுக்கு தான தர்மம் கொடுப்பதுதான் இந்த உலகத்திலேயே பெரிய புண்ணியமாகச் சொல்லப்பட்டது. ஆக, மேல் சாதிக்கு தான தர்மம் கொடுத்தால் சரியானது. ஏழைகளுக்குக் கொடுத்தால் அது கேலியா?” என்று நிதி அமைச்சர் அன்பழகன் கேட்கிறார். அரசாங்கம் இப்போது வழங்கும் அத்தனை இலவசங்களும் சலுகைகளும் ஏழை களுக்கு மட்டும்தான் போய்ச் சேர்கின்றனவா? ஆளும் நாற்காலியைப் பிடித்திருக்கும் ஒரு கட்சி, தனக்கு வாக்கு அளித்த மக்களுக்கு, அல்லது வாக்களிக்கப் போகும் மக்களுக்குத் தரும் மறைமுக ‘லஞ்சமாகவே’ இந்த இலவசங்கள் இருக்கின்றன என்பதை யாரால் மறுக்க முடியும்? ”ஜெயலலிதா ஆட்சிக்கு வந்தால் இவை அனைத் தையும் நிறுத்திவிடுவார்” என்று துணை முதல்வர் ஸ்டாலின் ஊர் ஊராகச் சொல்லி வருவதே உண்மைக் காரணத்தை உணர்த்திவிடுகிறது.

கருணாநிதியைப் பற்றி கேள்வி கேட்டால், ஜெயலலிதா பற்றி பதில் சொல்வதுதான் இன்றைய பாணி. ‘ஒரு லட்சம் கோடி கடன் வைத்து இருக்கிறீர்களே? இது நியாயமா?’ என்று எதிர்க் கட்சிகள் சட்டசபையில் கேள்வி கேட்டார்கள். ‘ஜெயலலிதாவும் அவரது ஆட்சியில் கடன் வாங்கத்தான் செய்தார்’ என்று அன்பழகன் பதில் அளித்துள்ளார். 2001-ம் ஆண்டு தி.மு.க. ஆட்சியை விட்டு விலகும்போது, வைத்துவிட்டுப்போன கடன்  28 ஆயிரம் கோடி.

2006-ம் ஆண்டு ஜெயலலிதா பதவி விலகும் போது, அதை 56 ஆயிரம் கோடியாக மாற்றினார். கருணாநிதியின் ஆட்சிக் காலம் இப்போது முடியும்போது, அது ஒரு லட்சத்தைத் தாண்டி இருக்கிறது. வாங்கிய கடனைக் கட்டவில்லை, அதற்கான வட்டியும் அபராத வட்டியும் செலுத்தவில்லை, மேலும் புதிதாகக் கடன் வாங்கியிருக்கிறார்கள். இந்த மூன்றும் சேர்ந்து தான் எகிறியிருக்கிறது.

”உணவு மானியமாக 4,000 கோடி போய்விடுகிறது. கலைஞர் வீடு வழங்கும் திட்டத்துக்கு 2,632 கோடி ஒதுக்கப்பட்டு உள்ளது. மின்சார வாரியத்துக்கு மான்யம்  1,681 கோடி, முதியோர் பென்ஷனுக்காக 1,379 கோடி. இப்படியே ஆண்டுதோறும் செலவு கூடிக்கொண்டே போவதால்தான், பழைய கடன்களை நம்மால் கட்டவும் முடியவில்லை. இவை எதுவும் லாபம் வரக் கூடிய தொழில்கள் அல்ல. அடுத்த ஆண்டுக்கு மறுபடியும் கடன் வாங்கியே இதற்கும் ஒதுக்க வேண்டியிருக்கிறது” என்று நிதித் துறை அதிகாரி சொல்கிறார்.

மத்திய அரசாங்கம் கொண்டுவந்துள்ள பொறுப்புரிமைச் சட்டத்தின் படி, ஒரு மாநில அரசாங்கம் அதன் உள்நாட்டு உற்பத்தியில் 10 சதவிகிதத்துக்கு மேல் கடன் வாங்கக் கூடாது என்று இருக்கிறது. ஆனால், அதை எல்லாம் தமிழ்நாடு தாண்டிவிட்டது. தேர்தல் நெருங்கி வருவதால் பயம் அதிகமாகிறது. கிரைண்டர் தருவோம், மிக்ஸி தருவோம்… என்று எந்தக் கட்சி வாக்குறுதி தந்தாலும், அது இலவசம் அல்ல. உங்களுக்கே தெரியாமல் உங்கள் பெயரைச் சொல்லி கடன் வாங்கித்தான் தருகிறார்கள்.

இவர்கள் போதாது என்று மத்திய அரசாங்கம் வாங்கும் கடன் கணக்கு மலைப்பை ஏற்படுத்தும். இந்தியாவின் சமீபத்திய கடன்  31 லட்சத்து 6 ஆயி ரத்து 322 கோடி. சராசரி இந்தியனின் ஆண்டு வருமானம்  38 ஆயிரம் என்று வைத்துக்கொண்டால், அவனது 10 மாதச் சம்பளம் கடனாக உள்ளது என் கிறார்கள்.

‘மன்மோகன் சிங்கைவிட நான் பரவாயில்லை’ என்று கருணாநிதி சொல்லிக்கொள்ளலாம்.

Ash Wednesday: WHAT & WHY

Ash Wednesday – what & why?

This is a very insightful message. May you be motivated to read, reflect & apply its teachings this Lent.

“The ashes placed upon our foreheads on Ash Wednesday symbolize our mortality (“Remember that you are dust and to dust you shall return”) or our need for conversion (“Repent, and believe in the gospel”).

The liturgical use of ashes originates in the Old Testament times for instance, in the Book of Esther, Mordecai put on sackcloth and ashes when he heard of the decree of King Ahasuerus of Persiato kill all of the Jewish people in the Persian Empire(Esther 4:1). Job repented in sackcloth and ashes (Job 42:6).

Prophesying the Babylonian captivity of Jerusalem , Daniel wrote, "I turned to the Lord God, pleading in earnest prayer, with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes" (Daniel 9:3).

After Jonah's preaching of conversion and repentance, the town of Nineveh proclaimed a fast and put on sackcloth, and the king covered himself with sackcloth and sat in the ashes (Jonah 3:5-6).

These Old Testament examples evidence both a recognized practice of using ashes and a common understanding of their symbolism.

Jesus Himself also made reference to ashes: Referring to towns that refused to repent of sin although they had witnessed the miracles and heard the good news, our Lord said, "If the miracles worked in you had taken place in Tyre and Sidon, they would have reformed in sackcloth and ashes long ago" (Matthew 11:21).

Ashes are something that are left when something is burned. Ashes are a symbol of being sorry for things we have done wrong and want to get rid of forever. It is also a reminder to us that we all come from ashes, and to ashes we all will return. The actual moment when the forehead is marked initiates the beginning of lent for each individual person.

Ash Wednesday:

It marks the beginning of six and a half weeks of repentance, fasting and abstinence in preparation for the most important festival of Easter. In churches the Priest first burns the palm that have been kept from last year's Palm Sunday and then mixes the ashes of these crosses with holy water (which has been blessed) to make a grayish paste. Why forty days?
Moses stayed on the Mountain of God forty days, Jesus prayed and fasted in the wilderness forty days, Elijah reached the cave where he had a vision, after forty days of travel. Hence, the period of forty days has great religious significance amongst Catholics; Jesus was resurrected forty hours after his crucifixion. He was crucified at noon on Friday, and came back at 4 a.m. on Sunday. Forty is a traditional number of spiritual testing, in various cultures. Essentially, forty days of Lent signify Christians 'joining' Jesus on his forty-day retreat in the wilderness.

What do people usually abstain from during Lent?
Amongst the more religious, Lent is regarded as a period of fasting, penance and prayer. Earlier on, it used to be customary to abstain from meat during this period. However, things are more relaxed now. For most Catholics, there are no specific rules and regulations regarding abstinence, though a person is encouraged to abstain from at least one pleasure-giving activity. Generally, people choose to abstain from certain foods such as non-vegetarian food, alcohol, cigarettes or sex. Some people choose to fast (skip a meal) everyday during this time or on the Fridays falling in the season of Lent. Ash Wednesday and all Fridays during Lent are days of fasting.

A Letter from God to Women:

My very dear & precious women,

If you ever look at yourself and feel that you don't measure up, read this and your outlook will change before you finish reading it!
This is good to keep, not just to read from time to time, but to also keep stored in your heart!

When I created the heavens and the earth, I spoke them into being. When I created man, I formed him and breathed life into his nostrils. But you, woman, I fashioned after I breathed the breath of life into man because your nostrils are too delicate. I allowed a deep sleep to come over him so I
could patiently and perfectly fashion you. Man was put to sleep so that he could not interfere with the creativity.

From one bone, I fashioned you. I chose the bone that protects man's life. I chose the rib, which protects his heart and lungs and supports him, as you are meant to do.

Around this one bone, I shaped you.... I modeled you. I created you perfectly and beautifully. Your characteristics are as the rib, strong yet delicate and fragile. You provide protection for the most delicate organ in man, his heart. His heart is the center of his being; his lungs hold the breath of life.

The rib cage will allow itself to be broken before it will allow damage to the heart. Support man as the rib cage supports the body. You were not taken from his feet, to be under him, nor were you taken from his head, to be above him. You were taken from his side, to stand beside him and be held close to his side.

You are My perfect angel......You are My beautiful little girl. You have grown to be a splendid woman of excellence and My eyes fill when I see the virtues in your heart. Your eyes......don't change them.

Your nose, so perfect in form. Your hands so gentle to touch.

I've caressed your face in your deepest sleep. I've held your heart close to mine. Of all that lives and breathes, you are most like Me. Adam walked with Me in the cool of the day, yet he was lonely.

He could not see Me or touch Me. He could only feel Me. So everything I wanted Adam to share and experience with Me, I fashioned in you: My holiness, My strength, My purity, My love, My protection and support. You are special because you are an extension of Me.

Man represents My image, woman My emotions. Together, you represent the totality of God.

So man...treat woman well. Love her, protect her, and respect her, for she is fragile and strong and your protector.
This is for all the women in your lives.

A different Approach to FASTING

A Different Approach to Fasting...

Fasts have a tendency to be oriented toward things like giving up food or television. But there are many other creative ways we can welcome   Jesus' healing touch.

Here are suggestions you may want to consider:

1. Fast from anger and hatred. Give your family an extra dose of love each day.

2. Fast from judging others. Before making any judgments, recall how Jesus overlooks our faults.

3. Fast from discouragement. Hold on to Jesus' promise that He has a perfect plan for your life.

4. Fast from complaining. When you find yourself about to complain, close your eyes and recall some of the little moments of joy Jesus has given you.

5. Fast from resentment or bitterness! Work on forgiving those who may have hurt you.

6. Fast from spending too much money. Try to reduce your spending by ten percent and give those savings to the poor.
