What Does Love Mean?

What Does Love Mean?

This is from a widely circulated email where the source is unknown:

A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, "What does love mean?" The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined. See what you think:

"When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all even when his hands got arthritis, too. That's Love."
Rebecca - age 8

When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth."
Billy - age 4

"Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other."
Karl - age 5

"Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French Fries without making them give you any of theirs."
Chrissy - age 6

"Love is what makes you smile when you're tired."
Terri - age 4

"Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK."
Danny - age 7

"Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more. My Mommy and Daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss."
Emily - age 8

"Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen."
Bobby - age 7 (Wow!)

"If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate."
Nikka - age 6

"Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears iteveryday."
Noelle - age 7

"Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well."
Tommy - age 6

"During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared. I looked at all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling. He was the only one doing that. I wasn't scared anymore."
Cindy - age 8

"My mommy loves me more than anybody. You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night."
Clare - age 6

"Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken."
Elaine-age 5

"Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford."
Chris - age 7

"Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day."
Mary Ann - age 4

"I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her oldclothes and has to go out and buy new ones."
Lauren - age 4

"When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you"
Karen - age 7

"Love is when Mommy sees Daddy on the toilet and she doesn't think it's gross."
Mark - age 6

"You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget."
Jessica - age 8

And the final one -- Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about contest he was asked to judge. The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child. (Now this will melt your heart.) The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there. When his Mother asked him what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said, "Nothing, I just helped him cry."

A Glass of Milk

A Glass of Milk

One day, a poor boy who was selling goods from door to door to pay his way through school, found he had only one thin dime left, and he was hungry. He decided he would ask for a meal at the next house. However, he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door. Instead of a meal he asked for a drink of water.
She thought he looked hungry so brought him a large glass of milk. He drank it slowly, and then asked, "How much do I owe you?"
"You don't owe me anything," she replied. "Mother has taught us never to accept pay for a kindness."
He said..... "Then I thank you from my heart." As Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt stronger physically, but his faith in God and man was strong also. He had been ready to give up and quit.
Year's later that young woman became critically ill. The local doctors were baffled. They finally sent her to the big city, where they called in specialists to study her rare disease. Dr. Howard Kelly was called in for the consultation. When he heard the nameof the town she came from, a strange light filled his eyes. Immediately he rose and went down the hall of the hospital to her room.
Dressed in his doctor's gown he went in to see her. He recognized her at once. He went back to the consultation room determined to do his best to save her life. From that day he gave special attention to the case.
After a long struggle, the battle was won. Dr. Kelly requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for approval.
He looked at it, then wrote something on the edge and the bill was sent to her room. She feared to open it, for she was sure it would take the rest of her life to pay for it all. Finally she looked, and something caught her attention on the side of the bill.
She read these words.....
"Paid in full with one glass of milk"
(Signed)
Dr. Howard Kelly
Tears of joy flooded her eyes as her happy heart prayed: "Thank You, God, that Your love has spread abroad through human hearts and hands."

3 Minute Management Course

Lesson One:

An eagle was sitting on a  tree resting, doing nothing. A small rabbit saw the eagle and asked him,
 "Can I also sit like you and do nothing?"
The eagle answered: "Sure, why not." So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the eagle and rested.
All of a sudden, a fox appeared, jumped on the rabbit and ate it.

Management Lesson:  To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very, very high  up.

Lesson Two:

A turkey was  chatting with a bull. "I would love to be able to get to the  top of  that tree," sighed the turkey, "but I haven't got the energy."Well, why don't you nibble on some of my droppings?" replied the bull."They're packed with  nutrients." The turkey pecked at a lump of  dung, and found it actually  gave him enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree. The next  day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch. Finally  after a fourth night, the turkey was proudly perched at  the top of the  tree. He was promptly spotted by a farmer, who shot him out of the  tree.Management Lesson: Bull shit might get you to the top, but it won't  keep you there._____________________________________

Lesson  Three:

A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold,the  bird froze and fell to the ground into a large field. While he was lying  there, a cow came by
and dropped some dung on him. As the frozen bird lay  there in the pile of cow dung, he began to realize how warm he was. The dung  was actually thawing him out! He laid there all warm and happy, and soon  began to sing for joy. A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to  investigate.Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile  of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him.

Management  Lesson:

(1) Not everyone who shits on you is your  enemy...
(2) Not everyone who gets you  out of shit is your friend...
(3) And  when you're in deep shit, it's best to keep your mouth shut!

The things that will destroy us

The things that will destroy us are:

 * Politics without principle.

* Pleasure without conscience.

* Wealth without work.
* Knowledge without character.
* Business without morality.
* Science without humanity.
* And worship without sacrifice.Mahatma Gandhi

12 Steps to positive attitude

·         Make up your mind to be happy. Learn to find pleasure in simple things.

·         Make the best of your circumstances. Everyone has problems. The trick is to make laughter outweigh the tears.

·         Don’t take yourself too seriously. Don’t think that somehow you should be protected from misfortunes that befall others.

·         You can’t please everybody. Don’t let criticism worry you.

·         Don’t let your neighbor set your standards. Be yourself.

·         Do the things you enjoy doing, but stay out of debt.

·         Don’t borrow trouble. Imaginary burdens are harder to bear than the actual ones.

·         Hate poisons the soul, so don’t carry grudges. Avoid people who make you unhappy.

·         Have many interests. If you can’t travel, read about new places.

·         Don’t hold post-mortems. Don’t spend your life brooding over sorrows and mistakes.

·         Do what you can for those less fortunate than yourself.

·         Keep busy at something. A busy person never has time to be unhappy.

A Call In The Night…

A Call In The Night…
“Mommy, Mommy,” my daughter called out in the middle of the night when she was 4. “I'm scared. Come quick!”

I stumbled down the hall to her room, muffling a yawn. “It's that awful
dream again. A monster's in my closet!” she said trembling.

“There's no monster in here,” I said, checking her closet as I had done
every night for the past week.

“I'm afraid in the dark,” she said.

“When I'm afraid, I pray to God, and He always takes care of me,” I said. “Just tell God how frightened you are, and He'll take care of you too, OK?”

“OK, Mommy.”

The next night, I woke up again. The house was quiet; my daughter wasn't crying -- so why was I awake? I got out of bed, tiptoed down the hall, and paused at the door to her room.

“Are you awake, honey?” I asked softly.

“Yes, Mommy,” she said. “My prayer worked. I had that dream again, but I didn't yell for you. I asked God to bring you to me. And He did!”

As I hugged her close, I thought about God answering prayers in mysterious ways. All we had to do was ask, and, just as He had brought me to my daughter in the middle of the night, He would find a way to take care of all the “monsters” in our lives.

By Nancy Burcham
No matter how hard the enemy may be fighting us, let us always stand strong and show our confidence in the Lord's ability to strengthen us and meet our needs. Let us not focus on the obstacle that is ahead of us, but rather may we focus on the God who created heaven and earth and know that with Him All Is Well. The Bible declares in Psalm 10:17 “Lord, You have heard the desire of the humble: You will prepare their heart, You will cause Your ear to hear.”  No matter w hat we go through in life, the answer to our problem can be found by spending time alone with the Lord sharing with Him all that is on our heart and receiving from Him the confidence to continue on boldly knowing the answer is on its way.
